May Week 2: Culture And Self Development
Overview And Objectives
In this week's program, we look at a challenging cultural period in human history which represents the emergence of the creative self and the individual ego. We need to understand this period of human life so that we can understand the baggage it brings into the present because often people distance themselves from the aggressive energies of this time. Instead, we need to understand the valuable energies it offers and start to look at how we can channel them constructively.
Animal spirits are an important part of the culture we are examining this week. They can sometimes be mismanaged to the detriment of everyone. The important question we have to ask is how do we harness our animal spirits as sensitive people so that we can participate more in the world without always having to feel guilty or embarrassed.
Creativity And Culture
Most of our important skills have cultural phases when they emerged as important qualities. Creativity is no different.
“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will”
George Bernard Shaw
